Great Grandma's Drop Doughnuts
List of Ingredients
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup milk
1-1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Powdered sugar and cinnamon, as desired
Recipe
In a medium to large mixing bowl, beat egg slightly.
Add sugar, oil and milk. Sift together flour, baking powder and nutmeg, and add to egg mixture, stirring well. Dough will be slightly stiff. Refrigerate dough while heating the oil for frying.
Heat oil to 350 degrees and drop dough by the teaspoon. Turn once. Fry until brown and cooked all the way through, about 3 minutes. Drain. Shake in a bag of powdered sugar or a combination of cinnamon and sugar. Enjoy warm. Makes about 20 doughnuts.
