Cake- Buttermilk Poundcake

1 cup butter
1 tablespoon shortening
2 3/4 cups sugar
5 eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon warm water
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Recipe
Combine butter and shortening, mixing well. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Dissolve baking soda in warm water and stir in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt, stirring well.
Add to creamed mixture alternately, beginning with buttermilk and ending with the flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes; remove.
