Pumpkin Cake

3 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 large eggs
2 cups mashed cooked pumpkin
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teasooon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecansRecipe
Beat sugar and shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, pumpkin, and vanilla, beating until blended.
Combine flour and next 7 ingredients; gradually add to pumpkin mixture, beating until blended. Stir in pecans. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 300 degrees; bake for 1 hur and 20 minutes. Yield 1 (10-inch) cake.
