Bar- Pecan Pie Bars 2

Makes 3 dozen bars
1 package (2-layer size) yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
FILLING
1/2 cup brown sugar
1-1/2 cups dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
Recipe
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease a 13-by-9-inch baking pan. Reserve 2/3 cup of cake mix for filling.
In a mixing bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix with melted butter and egg. Mix well and spread evenly into greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare filling: In a large mixer bowl, combine reserved cake mix, brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and 3 eggs. Beat on medium with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
Pour filling over crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Return to 350-degree oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until filling is set. Cool; cut into bars.
