Rolled Out-Lora and Debbie's Cream Cheese Cookies

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
8-ounce package cream cheese
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
4 ounces (1/2 package)
cream cheese
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter or
margarine
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1-pound box confectioners sugar
2-4 tablespoons milk
Food coloring
Recipe
In a large mixer bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Let stand at room temperature about 30 minutes or until softened. Stir together flour and baking powder.
Beat together softened butter and cream cheese. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla and almond extract; beat well. Add flour mixture and beat until well mixed. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill about 1 1/2 hours or until easy to handle.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack. Cook baking sheets between batches. Frost and decorate as desired.
Frosting: Mix the cream cheese and butter. Add almond and vanilla. Mix well. Add powdered sugar and milk. Frosting should be somewhat thick. Tint desired color with food coloring.
