    1 TBSP SUGAR
    1 PKG ACIVE DRY YEAST
    1-1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
    1/2 TSP BAKING SODA
    1/4 TSP SALT
    1/2 CUP SHORTENING (OR BUTTER)
    1 CUP BUTTERMILK
    2 TBSP WATER
    1/4 CUP FINELY SHREDDED CARROT
    2 TBSP MINCED FRESH PARSLEY
    2 TBSP FINELY CHOPPED GREEN ONION

    IN A LARGE BOWL, COMBINE FLOUR, SUGAR, YEAST BAKING POWDER, BAKING SODA AND SALT. CUT IN SHORTENING UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES COARSE CRUMBS.
    IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN, HEAT BUTTER MILK AND WATER TO 120-130 DEGREES. ADD BUTTERMILK MIXTURE, CARROT, PARSLEY AND ONION TO YEAST MIXTURE; STIR JUST UNTIL MOISTENED.
    TURN ONTO AFLOURED SUFACE; KNEAD UNTIL A SOFT DOUGH FORMS, ABOUT 6-8 MINUES. PAT OR ROLL OUT TO 1/2 IN. THICKNESS; CUT WITH 2-1/2 IN. BISCUIT CUTTER. PLACE 1 IN. APART ON UNGREASED BAKING SHEETS. BAKE 450 DEGREES FOR 8-10 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
