Green Beans In Bechamel Sauce

We have these every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are head and shoulders above the cream of mushroom, onion ring green bean casserole
List of Ingredients
3 cans whole green beans
2 T. butter
1 c. chicken broth or chicken bouillon
1 c. half and half
2-3 T. flour
20 saltines, crushed
4 T. softened butter
6 T. parmesan cheese
Recipe
Drain liquid from canned green beans, saving about half. Combine with stock and 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in half and half mixed with flour to a smooth consistency and bring to a boil to thicken. Add drained green beans and heat through. Place in ovenproof casserole.
Combine crushed crackers, 4 tablespoons butter and Parmesan cheese, and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle crumbs over casserole and broil until crumbs brown. Serve immediately. Serve about 8-10.
Note: Watch casserole carefully during browning process. You don't want to burn the topping. They go from brown to burned FAST!
