Szechuan Beef

Makes 4 servings.
Quantity Ingredients
1 lb.
lean beef filet, trimmed of fat and cut into very thin slices
1 Tbsp. oil
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 1/2" piece of fresh gingerroot, peeled and finely chopped
4 green onions, finely chopped (whites and greens)
1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tsp. peppercorns, ground
4 ounces vegetable chow-chow (like a chutney, but asian)
1 tsp. sugar
hot cooked rice
shredded green onions for garnish
1. Heat the oil in a nonstick pan or well-seasoned wok over high heat and stir-fry the beef, garlic, ginger, and green onions together for about 1 minute, or until the beef is browned.
2. Add the remaining ingredients except for the garnish, and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.
3. Garnish with the shredded onions and serve over rice.Recipe
