This recipe comes from my 1941 The New American Cookbook. A real classic.



List of Ingredients





2-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/2 TBS white corn syrup
7-1/2 TBS water
3 egg whites
1-1/2 tsp vanilla

Combine all ingredients, except vanilla, in the top of a double boiler and mix well. Cook over boiling water for 3 minutes. Turn off fire but leave over hot water and beat with a mixer for 7 minutes or until of a consistency to spread. Add vanilla and blend well.
