    ABM Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Bread

    Source of Recipe

Recipe by browneye from Cooking Light Bulletin Board. Posted by Linda in MO at Mimi’s Cyber-Kitchen 1/13/03.

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup warm water
1/4 cup molasses (I used honey)
    2 Tblsp. butter, softened
    3 cups bread flour
1/2 cups quick-cooking or regular oats
    2 Tblsp. dry milk
    1-1/4 tsp. salt
    2-1/4 tsp. bread machine yeast

    Recipe

Place all ingredients in the bread pan in the order listed. Select size (1-1/2 lbs.), and choose "light" crust (I'll try medium next time), on the white bread or sweet bread setting. Start your machine!!

Linda’s Notes: I used honey in place of molasses. Also I used unsalted butter, quick-cooking oats, and about 1/2 Tblsp. + 1/8 tsp. SAF yeast. I also added 1 Tblsp. vital wheat gluten. And milk can be used in place of the dried milk and water if desired. I only use my machine to make the dough and then either form it into a 9-inch loaf or make rolls out of it and bake them in the oven.
