Chocolate Fudge cake
List of Ingredients
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 2 1/4 cup sifted flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 2 1/4 ucp firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Grase and flour two 9-inch-round layer cake pans. tapping our excess flour; set aside.
Note: for richer broen finish, coat pan with unsweetened cocoa powder instead of flour.
- Melt chocolate in small bowl over hot, not boiling, water; cool.
- Sift flour, baking soda, and salt onto waxpaper; set aside.
- Beat butter in large mixing bowl at high speed until soft. Add brown sugar and eggs; beat at high speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in vanilla and cooled melted chocolate.
- Stir in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry and beating well with a wooden spoon after each addition until batter is smooth. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
- Divide batter between pans and bake 35 minutes, until centers springs back when lightly pressed with finger.
- Cool layers inpans on wire racks 10 minutes; loosen around edges with small apatula, turn out onto wire racks, and cool completely.
