    Apple Bars II


    List of Ingredients


    • CRUST:
    • 1/2 cup vetetable shortening
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • FILLING:
    • 1/3 cup flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
    • 1/3 cup brandy
    • 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
    • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped


    Instructions


    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
    2. To make the crust, combine the vegetable shortening, flour, and sugar in a bowl. Spread teh mixture evenly over the bottom of an ungreased 9-inch square baking pan.
    3. Bake for 15 minutes.
    4. Minea while, make the filling: Combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
    5. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and brown sugar together until thick. Beat in the brady. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Fold in the apples and walnuts.
    6. Spread the filling over the hot crust. Bake fro 30 minutes longer, or until the filling is set. Cool in the pan on a rack before cutting into bars.
