    6 slices raisin bread
    1/4-cup sugar
    2 cups milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tbl. Butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    Nutmeg or cinnamon sugar

    Slice raisin bread into 3/4" pieces; place in shallow, buttered 1-quart baking dish; set aside. Heat milk with butter until hot and butter is melted (do not allow mixture to boil). Beat eggs with sugar,vanilla and salt. Add hot milk mixture, stirring constantly; pour overbread. Allow standing 5 minutes. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamonsugar. Set baking dish in a pan with hot water to half the depth of
    dish. Bake uncovered, at 350 F. about 50 minutes or until custard is set. Serve warm or cold. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
