    Easy Meat Sauce

    Cooking time; 30--40 min.
    Servings; 4


    List of Ingredients


    • 1-1/4 pound lean ground beef
    • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    • 1 mediun onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 tsp. dired oregano leaves
    • 1.2 tsp dried basil leaves
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
    • 1 can (16oz.) tomatoes, crushed
    • 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
    • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 cup chicken broth or red wine
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed ( or 1 tsp. garlic powder)
    • Dash black pepper


    Instructions


    1. In a large skillet, brown meat in butter until no longer pink. Remove and set aside.
    2. Add onion to skillet. Slowly cook over low heat until soft but now brown.
    3. Add meat, herbs, green pepper, tomatoes, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, broth or wine and garlic and pepper.
    4. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat.
    5. Boil gently, uncovered over low to med heat until sauce is thickened to desired consistency . Stir from time to time to prevent sticking to bottom of skillet
    6. Serve sauce with pasta or rice with grated Parmesan cheese to sprinkle over dish when ready to serve.
