    TOFFEE-NUT BARS

    List of Ingredients

    BOTTOM LAYER:

    Mix thoroughly:

    1/2 c. soft margarine
    1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)

    Stir in:

    1 c. flour

    Press and flatten with your hands to cover the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13 pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.


    ALMOND-COCONUT TOPPING

    Beat well:

    2 eggs

    On low speed - mix in:

    1 cup brown sugar (packed)
    1 tsp. vanilla

    On low speed - mix in:

    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt

    Stir in:

    1 cup moist shredded coconut
    1 cup cut-up almonds (other kind of nuts work fine)

    Spread this mixture over the pre-baked crust.

    Return to the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees (Just until a golden brown.)

    Cool and then cut into bars.


    Makes about 2 1/2 dozen bars.
