    Cherry Streusel Coffeecake

    Recipe Introduction


    A nice Coffeecake to serve at a Brunch.


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 1/4 c. flour
    • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
    • 2/3 c. margarine, softened
    • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    • 3/4 c. milk
    • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp. almond extract
    • 1 (19 oz.) can cherry pie filling
    • 1/3 c. sliced almonds


    Instructions


    1. Combine flour and sugar in large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Set aside 1/2 c. of mixture.

    2. Add baking soda and baking powder to remaining flour mixture.

    3. Combine the milk and lemon juice. Stir well and leave 5 minutes until thickened.

    4. Add the egg and extract to thickened milk; beat well.

    5. Add the dry ingredients; stir just until moistened.

    6. Spread 2/3 of batter over bottom and about 1 inch up the sides of a greased 9 inch springform pan to form a shell. Spread pie filling in shell.

    7. Drop small spoonfuls of remaining batter over pie filling. Stir almonds into reserved crumb mixture. Sprinkle evenly over cake.

    8. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 50 minutes.
