    Bavarian Apple Torte

    List of Ingredients


    • CRUST:
    • 1/2 c. margarine
    • 1/3 c. sugar
    • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
    • 1 c. flour
    • FILLING:
    • 1 - 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
    • 1/4 c. sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    • TOPPING:
    • 4 c. thinly sliced apples
    • 1/3 c. sugar
    • 1 tsp. grated orange peel (optional)
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/4 c. sliced almonds


    Instructions


    1. TO MAKE CRUST:
    2. Cream together margarine and sugar. Beat in vanilla. Beat in flour just until blended. Pat dough in bottom and 1 1/2 inches up sides of 9 inch springform pan.
    3. TO MAKE FILLING:
    4. Beat together softened cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Pour into crust.
    5. TO MAKE TOPPING:
    6. Toss together apples, sugar, peel and cinnamon. Arrange topping over filling. Sprinkle with almonds.
    7. TO BAKE:
    8. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 25 more minutes. Let cool in pan before removing side of pan.
    9. Serve chilled.
