Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding
Recipe Introduction
This is one of our favorites! It is often requested for us to bring to Potlucks.
List of Ingredients
- 6 c. white bread cubes (12 slices)
- 5 eggs, beaten
- 4 c. milk
- 4 Tbsp. margarine, melted
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. Apricot Brandy (optional)
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. raisins
- APRICOT GLAZE:
- 2/3 c. Apricot preserves
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 Tbsp. Apricot Brandy (Optional)
Instructions
- Spread bread cubes in a greased 9 x 13 inch dish. Spread raisins evenly on bread cubes.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs; add the remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour mixture over the bread cubes and raisins. Stir lightly.
- Let the bread soak the minimun of 30 minutes before baking. (It may soak overnight in refrigerator before baking)
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. (It is done when a knife comes out clean) Spoon the Apricot Glaze on top as soon as the Bread Pudding comes out of the oven.
- To Bake: Set the pan in a larger pan; add hot water to bottom pan well up sides.
- APRICOT GLAZE: Blend all ingredients together on medium heat in saucepan until warm and blended. Spread on the Bread Pudding as soon as you remove it from the oven.
