List of Ingredients
- -- You Will Need --
- 10 brand new 3-1/2-inch terracotta pots (don't use old ones!)
- Aluminum foil
- .
- Cooking spray
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- Chocolate frosting
- 2 cups shredded coconut
- Green food coloring
- .
- Brightly colored construction paper
- Glue
- Toothpicks
- Optional: Gummi worms
Instructions
- First, wash the new terracotta pots. Cut ten 1-1/2-inch circles out of the foil and put one in the bottom of each pot (this keeps the batter from leaking out).
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees (F). Have mom or dad help!
- Lightly coat the inside of each pot with cooking spray. Place all of your pots on a cookie sheet.
- Now, mix up one box of chocolate cake mix, according to the instructions on the box, and spoon it into each of the 10 pots. They should be about half-filled with the batter. Place the tray of pots on the center oven rack and bake for about 40 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean). Remove from oven and cool for a few hours before frosting them.
- Spread thick, gooey chocolate frosting on top.
- Place the shredded coconut into a lidded jar and put a few drops of green food coloring in with it. Now shake the jar until all the coconut is colored. Sprinkle this onto the chocolate icing.
- Cut out fun flower shapes from brightly colored construction paper and glue them onto a toothpick. Stick one (or two, or three...) into the cake. For even more fun, put a wriggly gummi worm around the top.
