Gingerbread Cookies

List of Ingredients
- 1/4 cup water, boiling
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1-1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Pour the boiling water over the butter. (Have a parent help you with the boiling water.) Add the sugar and molasses and mix well.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add to the butter-sugar mixture. Chill thoroughly.
- Take out of refrigerator and roll out. Cut with a gingerbread-man cutter and other desired shapes. Place on lightly sprayed cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for about 10 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen,
depending on size of cutters.
