    Gingerbread Cookies

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/4 cup water, boiling
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup molasses
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1-1/2 tsp ginger
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon


    Instructions


    1. Pour the boiling water over the butter. (Have a parent help you with the boiling water.) Add the sugar and molasses and mix well.

    2. Sift together dry ingredients and add to the butter-sugar mixture. Chill thoroughly.

    3. Take out of refrigerator and roll out. Cut with a gingerbread-man cutter and other desired shapes. Place on lightly sprayed cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for about 10 minutes.

      Makes about 4 dozen,
      depending on size of cutters.
