List of Ingredients



• 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  
• 1/4 cup shortening
  
• 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
  
• 1 egg yolk
  
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
  
• 1/4 tsp salt
  
• Jelly
  






Instructions



1. Heat oven to 350 degrees (F). Mix brown sugar, shortening, butter, vanilla and egg yolk. Stir in flour and salt until dough holds together. Shape into 1-inch balls.
   
   
2. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press thumb deeply in center of each. Bake about 10 minutes or until light brown; cool.
   
   
3. Fill thumbprints with LOTS of jelly.
   
   Makes 3 dozen cookies.
   
   These little cookies are just right for elevenses or a small smackerel at a birthday party for Eeyore.
