    1 medium size red onion, chopped
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    2 cans (15 ounces each)black beans, drained
    1 can (11 ounces) corn niblets, drained
    1 can(14.5 ounces) chicken broth
    1 cup bottled chunky salsa
    1 tablespoon lime juice
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon black pepper

    Garnish (optional)
    sour cream
    lime wedges

    Saute onion in oil in saucepan over low heat 5 minutes, until tender.
    Mash 1 cup beans in small bowl.
    Stir mashed beans, whole beans, corn, broth,salsa, lime juice, salt and pepper into saucepan; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes or until heated through. Serve with dollop of sour cream and lime, if desired.
