1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
pinch sugar
5 cups flour
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. each soda, salt
1 cup butter, margarine or butter flavored Crisco�
2 cups buttermilk
Recipe
Heat oven to 400� F. (200� C). Combine yeast and sugar and warm water and set aside for 10 minutes. Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt; stir. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in yeast mix and butter milk. Knead just enough to come together. Roll out on a floured surface about 3/4" thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter or an old soup can. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet about 15 minutes. Makes about 2-1/2 dozen biscuits.
