Molasses Coffee Cake

List of Ingredients





1/2 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
1 cup strong coffee
4 cups cake flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp clove
1 tsp nutmeg
1 cup raisins



Recipe




Cream butter, add sugar gradually and beat well.
Add molasses, coffee and egg. When well-blended, stir in sifted dry ingredients and raisins.
Pour in well-greased shallow pan and bake about thirty minutes in moderate oven, 375 degrees.
Test with a straw.
When cooked, sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
