    1 pound bulk Italian sausage, broken into 1-inch pieces, or Italian sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
    1 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
    1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed firmly
    1/3 cup cider vinegar
    6 cups shredded cabbage
    2 red apples, cored and sliced

    Recipe



    Put sausage in large skillet and saute. Add oregano or Italian seasoning; cook until sausage is browned lightly. Drain well.

    Stir in brown sugar and vinegar; mix well. Add cabbage; bring to boil, then cover and simmer 5 minutes. Stir and simmer 5-10 minutes or until cabbage is al dente or soft, depending preference for cooked cabbage.

    Cover and cook 2-3 minutes or until apples are soft-tender.
    Serves/Makes: 4
