    Cinnamon Snaps

    Source of Recipe

    Moe

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 cup shortening
    1 cup dark corn syrup
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 tablespoons warm water
    5 cups all-purpose flour
    -- divided (5 to 6)
    1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    1 tablespoon ground ginger
    1/2 teaspoon salt

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add corn syrup. Dissolve baking soda in warm water; add to sugar mixture. Sift 2 cups flour with cinnamon, ginger and salt; stir into sugar mixture. Stir in additional flour (3 to 4 cups) to make stiff dough. Roll very thin on a floured board. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheets for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a wire rack; let cool. Yield: About 100 cookies. Tester's note: A crisp cookie with old-fashioned spice flavor. Easy dough to work with. Keep surface dusted with flour, and dip cutter in flour before you cut out each cookie. Bob Gruender, Trenton, Ill.
