    1 cup each sugar,. confectioners' sugar
    1 cup butter or margarine,,softened
    1 cup vegetable oil
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    4-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp, cream of tartar
    1 tsp. salt
    Colored sugar

    Heat oven to 375°F. (165ºX), In large bowl with electric mixer, beat granulated sugar, powdered sugar and butter on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in oil, vanilla and eggs until well blended. On low speed, beat in flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt until a dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight for easier handling. Shape dough into 1" balls; place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each with bottom of glass dipped in colored sugar. Bake 5 = 8 minutes. until set, but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets. For prettiest cookies, look for a "cut-glass" tumbler with a pretty design on bottom. Look for cream of tartar in the spice aisle of grocery store.
