Rosemary's Donuts
List of Ingredients
- 3 Cups all purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Sugar, divided
- 1 Tblespoon baking Powder
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1/2 tspoon salt
- 1/4 tspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1 egg
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine flour, 1/2 c. sugar, baking powder, 1 tsp. cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
- In large bowl combine milk, butter and egg; Stir in flour mixture until combine.
- Cover; refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Turn dough out onto lightely floured surface. Using lightly lightly floured rolling pin, roll out dough 1/2 inch thickness. Using doughnutCutter cut out doughnuts. Reserving holes.
- In skillet heat 1 inch oil over high heat to 375 degrees. Gently drop dough in batches into oil. Fry, turning twice, until puffy and golden., 1 to 2 minutes per side. Fry holes 1 minute per side.
- Combine remaining sugar with remaining cinnamon; together with warm donuts. Or even sprinkle with powder sugar. Also can put chocolate iceing on plain donuts on one side.
- Makes around 16 donuts and 16 holes.
