    • HEALTHIER "HEALTH" BARS:

    List of Ingredients






    Base Layer:
    3/4 - 1 cup graham crumbs and 1/4 cup quick oats
    1/3 cup + 1 Tbs melted (or just very soft) butter
    2-3 Tbs milk
    2-3 Tbs maple syrup or honey

    Middle Layer:
    3/4 cup wheat squares cereal (like shreddies)
    3/4 cup raspberry jam
    3/4 cup peanut butter

    Top Layer:
    1 1/2 cups carob or chocolate chips

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 375F degrees

    Using a fork, blend the butter with the graham crumbs and quick oats. Blend in the milk and liquid sweetner, beginning with the smaller amount and adding more until the batter holds together. Spread the batter in a square 8 x 8" pan and bake 12-15 minutes.

    Mix together the ingredients for the middle layer and spread overtop of baked base layer. Bake for another 5 minutes.

    In a double boiler (or in the microwave), melt the carob or chocolate chips. Personally, I use non-dairy, dark chocolate. Once melted, spread over baked middle layer and let set in the fridge for a few hours. When chilled, cut into bars and try not to devour them all at once.

    Makes 12 bars.
