    List of Ingredients




    2 qt. with cover
    1/4 cup olive oil
    2 cups choppedvyellow onions
    4 cloves fresh garlic-minced
    1 6 oz. can Italian style tomato paste
    1 can Italian style plum tomatoes-undrained
    28 oz. size equals 3 1/2 cups
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    1 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

    Put olive oil, chopped onions & garlic in the 2 qt. pot. Fry slowly, stirring frequently, until the onions are soft. Remove from burner. Add tomato paste mixture. Stir until the tomato paste is dissolved. Return to burner & bring to simmer. Stir until well blended. Add salt and pepper and basil. Cook uncover, simmering very gentley for 30 minutes or until thick. Stir occasionally. Serve boil spaghetti or macaroni or steam rice.
    NOTE: medium pan: moderate heat-melt 1 1/2 tablespoon butter. Add 5 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms.
    Fry about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add to sauce durning last 10 minutes of cooking time.
