List of Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter margarine at room temp.
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1/4 teaspoon orange extract
1/2 cup vegetable shortening such as Crisco
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups white sugar
pinch salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup sugar for dipping cookies
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and shortening. Mix in sugar and salt, then eggs- and extracts.
In another bowl, mix flour with soda and cream of tartar.
Fold flour mixture into butter mixture and mix very well.
Roll dough into balls about the size of golf balls.
Dip tops into sugar and place of baking sheet. Press down very slightly for crisper cookies. For thick soft-center cookies, do not press at all.
Bake 12-16 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
