    2 cups flour
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 tsp. each salt, cloves
    1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    2 cups New York State Empire apples, coarsely chopped
    1/2 cup each raisins, walnuts
    3 eggs, slightly beaten
    1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1/2 pkg. (4 oz.) cream cheese, cut into small pieces
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    Topping:
    1/2 cup walnuts
    1 tsp. each cinnamon, lemon zest
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    2 tbsp. melted butter or margarine
    Directions;

    Heat oven to 375ºF (185ºC). Combine topping ingredients and set aside. Muffins: Combine flour, sugars, salt, spices and baking soda, and set aside. Combine apples, raisins, walnuts, eggs, butter, cream cheese and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, a little at a time, to apple mixture. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix. Portion batter into muffin papers evenly; sprinkle with topping. Bake 20 - 25 minutes. Makes 2 dozen muffins.
