    POPCORN BALLS

    Source of Recipe

    Agnes

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup light corn syrup

    3 tablespoons cider vinegar

    1 cup water

    1 cup butter

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    food coloring (optional)

    8-10 cups popped popcorn

    Recipe

Pop popcorn in an air popper, or if you prefer, the microwave brands work fine with this recipe.

In a medium size saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, vinegar and water. Heat mixture over medium/high heat stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue to cook until a hard ball forms when a bit of the mixture is dropped in cold water. Remove mixture from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring.

Pour mixture over popcorn and a large buttered bowl and stir quickly to coat. Be careful with the next step, especially if the kids are helping you, as the mixture is HOT. Butter and flour your hands and shape popcorn into balls. Let cool completely on wax paper, or a non-stick cookie sheet. When cool, wrap individually in saran or cellophane paper.

Makes 16 to 20 popcorn balls
