    1 cup chopped lean bacon
    1 medium onion -- chopped
    2 celery stalks -- chopped
    8 cup boiling water
    1 pound split dried peas
    3 parsley sprigs
    1 teaspoon dried thyme
    3 potatoes -- peeled, cubed
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 tbsp sugar

    Recipe



    Place all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and place on low setting. Cook 8 hours or more. Before serving, mash ingredients carefully with potato masher and stir well.
