Abuela gave me this recipe that she has used for years. At first, she wouldn't tell, but after I promised that I would only reveal the *secret* to McKenna, and Andrew's future wife, she relented! I've gotten RAVE reviews on this crust! Thanks Grandma!
List of Ingredients
3 C flour
1 1/3 C crisco shortening
1 t salt
7-8 T ice cold water
1 egg
1 T vinegarRecipe
Blend first three ingredients together with a pastry blender. Mix together remaining ingredients, then add to flour mix, mixing with hands. Separate into 4ths and form into disks. ****ADD SECRET INGREDIENT*** Wrap each disk in saran wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or freeze for up to 3 months. Take one disk out at a time and roll out, then place in pie pan. Here's my secret that I've learned by trial and error - make sure you put pie pan in frig until ready to fill and bake. Do not leave the crust out longer than necessary.
