    List of Ingredients


    • 1-1/4 c. flour
    • 1/2 c. brown sugar
    • 1/2 c. shortening
    • 1 c. chopped pecans, divided
    • 1/2 c. coconut
    • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    • 1/3 c. sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 t. vanilla
    • 1 can cherry pie filling


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan.
    2. Combine flour and brown sugar; cut in shortening until in fine crumbs. Add 1/2 c. pecans and coconut. Mix well.
    3. Remove 1/2 cup of this mixture and set aside.
    4. Press remaining crumbs in bottom of greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
    5. Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Spread over hot baked crust. Return to oven. Bake 10 minutes.
    6. Spread cherry pie filling over the cheese layer. Combine 1/2 c. pecans with reserve crumbs. Sprinkle over the cherries. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes longer.
    7. Cool. Makes 24 bars.
