Cream Cheese Brownies

- CHOCOLATE BATTER:
- 4 oz. German sweet chocolate
- 3 T. butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 t. baking powder
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1/4 t. almond extract
- 1/2 c. nuts, optional
- CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE:
- 3 oz. cream cheese
- 2 T. butter, softened
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 T. flour
- 1/2 t. vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- CHOCOLATE BATTER:Melt German sweet chocolate and butter over very low heat, cool. In a separate bowl, beat eggs until light; add sugar and beat until thickened. Add baking powder, salt and flour. Blend in chocolate mixture, vanilla, almond extract and nuts.
- CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE:Cream butter with cream cheese; add sugar. Blend in egg, flour and vanilla.
- Spread half of the chocolate batter in a greased 8 or 9 inch pan. Top with cream cheese mixture. Spoon the rest of the chocolate batter on top. Swirl with a knife.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
