    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    1 c. sour cream
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
    1 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring
    3 lg. eggs
    1 t. vanilla

    FROSTING:
    3 T. flour
    1 c. milk
    1 c. butter, softened
    1 c. sugar
    1 t. vanilla

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour either two 9-inch round cake pans or a 9x13 inch baking pan. Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute. Stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Mix at medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes more, scraping sides if needed. Place batter in pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly pressed with your finger and just starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. When cooled, frost with the following frosting or a cream cheese frosting.

    FROSTING:
    Cook flour and milk until thick, let cool. Cream together margarine and sugar. Add vanilla. Beat the two mixtures together until the consistency is that of whipped cream. Spread on cooled cake.
