    DEEP, DARK CHOCOLATE CAKE



    1 3/4 cup unsifted flour
    2 cups sugar
    3/4 cup cocoa
    1-1/2 tsp baking soda
    1-1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    2 eggs
    1 cup milk
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    2 tsp vanilla
    1 cup boiling water

    Recipe







    1. Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.

    2. Add remaining ingredients except boiling water; beat at medium speed 2 minutes.

    3. Remove from mixer; stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).

    4. Pour into greased and floured 13x9 pan.

    5. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done.









    BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

    1/2 cup shortening
    1/4 lb butter
    1 cup granulated sugar
    3/4 cup warm milk



    Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar. Mix in warm milk until smooth. Beat on high until fluffy.








    This frosting is not overly sweet
    CHOCOLATE WONDER FROSTING



    6 oz cream cheese
    1/4 cup milk
    4 cups powdered sugar
    4 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
    Dash of salt



    Blend cream cheese and milk. Add sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth after each addition.

    Add melted chocolate and salt; beat until smooth. Add milk if necessary to bring to spreading consistency.



    If tightly covered this frosting may be kept in refrigerator for several days.
