Soft, Chewy Ginger Cookies
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
41/2 to 5 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
31/2 tsp baking sonda

Cream sugar, butter, eggs and molasses until fluffy. Sift the dry ingredients together and then add to the butter mixture. Roll into small balls of dough. Roll in granulated sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Be careful not to over cook them or they will get hard. Makes 31/2 to 4 dozen.
