OATMEAL APRICOT BARS

List of Ingredients
1 jar apricot preserves
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
2 cups oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
Recipe
Melt shortening with brown sugar and vanilla. Sift flour and baking soda
together. Mix with oatmeal. Blend dry ingredients with shortening mixture;
use hands so it will all be moist. Press half the mixture in bottom of
greased pan 9x13. Spread with apricot preserves, sprinkle rest of oatmeal
mixture on top ond pat into preserves with hand or back of spoon. Bake at
350 degrees for 30 minutes
