List of Ingredients
- 2 qts dandelion blossoms
- 1 gallon water
- 2 oranges (coarsely chopped)
- 2 lemons (coarsely chopped)
- 4 lbs sugar
Instructions
- Remove the dandelion stems and the outer ring of leaves around the blossom.
- Place the blossoms in a large bowl or crock.
- Bring the water to a boil and pour over the blossoms.
- Cover with cheese cloth or plastic wrap and allow to stand for 36 hours - stir once or twice.
- Strain the liquid through a cheesecloth lined colander and return to the crock.
- Add the oranges, lemons and sugar and cover again with plastic wrap.
- Store in a cool place and let the mixture work or ferment for 2 weeks.
- Strain again and return to the corck to ferment and bubble further.
- When the bubbling stops and the wine is clear - it is ready!
- You can now drink or bottle.
- If you bottle - use new corks - NOT old ones. Siphon into clean bottles.
Final Comments
Fermenting varies considerably - sometimes it takes several weeks longer than this recipe shows!
