Swedish Sailor's Beef Casserole

Recipe Introduction
Swedish Casserole in Sweden this dish is called Sjomans Biff.
List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs chuck or round of beef
- 6 medium raw potatoes
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 large onions sliced
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1/2 cup beer
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
Instructions
- Cut meat into 1/4 slices and pound
- Peel potatoes and cut into thick slices.
- Heat butter, saute onion and brown meat in it.
- Layer potatoes, meat and onion in casserole.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper between each layer.
- End the layering with a layer of potatoes.
- Pour water into frying pan, stir and add to casserole.
- Add beer.
- Cover and bake at 375 for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Final Comments
Serve with pickled beets.
