    Recipe Introduction


    Swedish Casserole in Sweden this dish is called Sjomans Biff.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 lbs chuck or round of beef
    • 6 medium raw potatoes
    • 3 tbsp butter
    • 2 large onions sliced
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
    • pepper to taste
    • 1 1/2 cups hot water
    • 1/2 cup beer
    • 1/4 cup chopped parsley


    Instructions


    1. Cut meat into 1/4 slices and pound
    2. Peel potatoes and cut into thick slices.
    3. Heat butter, saute onion and brown meat in it.
    4. Layer potatoes, meat and onion in casserole.
    5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper between each layer.
    6. End the layering with a layer of potatoes.
    7. Pour water into frying pan, stir and add to casserole.
    8. Add beer.
    9. Cover and bake at 375 for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
    10. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.


    Final Comments


    Serve with pickled beets.
