    Found in a book of poems that she wrote in the 1930s.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup (heaping) of vanilla wagers. crushed
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • tsp of powdered sugar
    • 1 scant cup of chopped nuts
    • 1 tbsp light karo syrup
    • 1 tbsp cocoa
    • 1 1/2 jiger of rum (light or dark - Cuban rum is the best)


    Instructions


    1. Mix all the ingredients well until blended.
    2. Form balls a little smaller than walnuts and roll in tsp powdered sugar.
    3. Store in a tight container. And store in ice box (refrigerator)


    Final Comments


    These are best to age a few days or a week in the "ice box". Take out prior to serving and let thaw to room temperature.
