Recipe Introduction
A Mardi Gras favorite...everyone likes it and it's simple!
List of Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 1 Green Bell Pepper (chopped)
- 2 celery ribs (diced)
- 3 cups (1 lb) cooked ham (chopped into cubes)
- 1 lb Cajun (or other spicy) sausage (sliced)
- 1 8oz can tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper
- 1/4 tsp Cajun spice
- 5 cup cooked white rice
Instructions
- Melt Butter in a large skillet oever med heat.
- Add onion, green pepper, celery, and saute until all are tender.
- Add the cubed ham and sliced sausage, tomato sauce, pepper, salt and spice. Cook for 20 minutes over medium heat - stir often.
- This is a good time to start cooking your 5 cups of white rice (per package instruction)
- Once the meat and onion mixture has cooked for 20 minutes transfer into a dutch oven.
- Stir in the cooked rice into the meat and onion mixture and stir well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes - stir every once and a while.
