    List of Ingredients


    • 1 large head of fresh cauliflower
    • 3/4 tsp salt
    • 3 Tbsp butter - melted
    • 3 Tbsp flour
    • 1 1/2 cups milk
    • 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs (Jim suggests Panko)
    • 2 Tbsp butter to dot on top


    Instructions


    1. Start by grating the Cheddar cheese and allow to sit aside.
    2. Pull all the leaves off the cauliflower and cut off the stem near the head.
    3. Wash and drain
    4. Place cauliflower in a pan and enough water to cover the head of cauliflower.
    5. Add 1/2 tsp salt to the water
    6. Cover and simmer 15 - 20 minutes.
    7. Remove from heat, drain and place in a buttered 2 qt casserole dish.
    8. Melt 3 Tbsp butter in a saucepan.
    9. Add flour to the melted butter and keep heat at medium low.
    10. Gradually stir in the milk - slowly and keep stirring at all times.
    11. Add 1/4 tsp salt and cook for 1 minute longer - KEEP STIRRING.
    12. Add the grated cheese and cook until it's all melted and smooth.
    13. Pour over the head of culiflower and sprinkle the head with bread crumbs or Panko.
    14. Dot with butter.
    15. bake uncovered at 325 for 25 - 30 minutes - until hot and bubbly.
