    Pennsylvania-Dutch Fried Tomatoes & Grav

    List of Ingredients

    4 medium-sized tomatoes (use ripe but firm tomatoes)
    1/2 C. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 T. Crisco
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 T. brown sugar
    1 C. cream


    Recipe

    Do not remove tomato skins; cut into 1/3 inch thick slices. Roll slices in flour and fry in hot fat. When browned on both sides, sprinkle with salt, pepper and brown sugar. Place tomatoes on a platter. Add 1 T. flour to fryings; when well blended, add cream. Allow gravy to thicken and then pour it over fried tomatoes.
