Sweet 'n' Sour Meatball Appetizer

1 lb lean ground beef
½ lb ground veal
½ lb ground pork
¼ C parsley, chopped
½ C breadcrumbs
¾ t salt
½ nutmeg
1 egg
¼ C milk
2 T vegetable oil
1½ C onion, chopped
1 16-oz can whole tomatoes
½ C tomato sauce
1 T brown sugar
3 T lemon juice
Combine meats with bread crumbs, parsley, salt,nutmeg, egg, and milk. Mix well. Shape into balls. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large skillet. Brown meatballs in two batches and set aside. Add remaining oil to skillet. Sauté onion. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Return meatballs to skillet. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer over low heat 15 minutes. Uncover and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened
