    Aunt Saunny

    2 cups flour
    1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
    1 cup cold butter (no substitutes)
    Filling:
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup chopped almonds
    2 tbsp all purpose flour
    4 eggs, beaten
    1/2 cup butter, melted
    1/3 cup light corn syrup
    1/2 tsp almond extract

    Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. For crust, combine flour and confectioners' sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into prepared 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 F for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. In a bowl, combine sugar, almonds, and flour. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour over crust. Return to oven and bake at 350 F. for 25 to 30 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Store in refrigerator.

    Yield: 6 1/2 dozen
