Cloud Nine Butterscotch Squares

1/2 cup butter or margarine
3-3/4 oz. pkg instant butterscotch pudding mix
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 cup quick-cooking oats or old-fashioned oats -- uncooked
1 pkg semisweet chocolate pieces
chocolate frosting
Heat oven to 350. In large bowl of mixer beat butter until creamy.
Add dry instant pudding mix; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs
and vanilla; mix until well combined. Sift together flour and baking
powder. In two additions of each, add milk alternately with sifted
dry ingredients, beginning with milk. Mix well after each addition.
By hand stir in oats and chocolate pieces. Spread batter evenly in
greased 9" square baking pan. Bake at 350 for 20-25 min. Cool
completely on wire rack. Spread with chocolate frosting. Cut into
squares.
